If you have recently done your graduation from college, you may have new health insurance alternatives. For a range of plan types and expenses, consider these three options:
Purchase your own Marketplace plan subscription
You may enroll in Marketplace health insurance for the rest of 2021 if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. You may be eligible if you match the following criteria:
- You’re relocating to or from your former school.
- You lose other health insurance, such as when your student health plan expires, or you leave your parent’s plan.
- You go through different life events, such as having a child or getting married.
Not sure if you’re eligible? To find out, answer a few questions.
Become a part of your parent’s plan
You can usually be added to your parent’s health insurance plan if they cover dependents. As long as you’re under the age of 26, they might be able to add you to an existing Marketplace plan during a Special Enrollment Period.
Check to see if you qualify for Medicaid or (CHIP)
You may be eligible for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) if you’re working part-time, planning your next move, starting a business, or otherwise not generating much money. Enter your household income and size to see whether you qualify. We’ll tell you about the programs for which you could be eligible. If you meet the requirements, your coverage will begin immediately.
