Five Facts About Marketplace Open Enrollment

The period during which you can sign up or renew a health plan through the Marketplace health insurance is known as Open Enrollment. Open Enrollment for 2022 coverage begins on November 1, 2021, which is only five days away.

Below are the five facts you should be aware of:

i) The 2022 Open Enrollment period runs from November 1, 2021, to December 15, 2021.

ii) You must register by December 15, 2021, if you want your insurance plan to begin on January 1, 2022.

iii) If you don’t register for a health plan by December 15, 2021, the only way you’ll be able to get health insurance through the Marketplace in 2022 is if you qualify for a SEP (Special Enrollment Period). You may be eligible if you have a “qualifying life event,” such as the birth or adoption of a child, marriage, or the loss of other health coverage.

iv) Also, you can apply for CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) and Medicaid throughout the year. If you meet the requirements, you can enroll right away.

v) You can look over the 2022 health plans and estimated costs before you apply.
