Get Ready to Enroll in SHOP Coverage

The SHOP (Small Business Health Options Program) coverage offers the easiest way to find and purchase health insurance that meets the needs of your employees—and your company.

To be eligible for SHOP coverage, your company must have 50 or several FTE (full-time equivalent) employees and meet specific other requirements. Starting November 1, 2021, you will be able to enroll in the SHOP Marketplace coverage entirely online for the first time. You can apply, select insurance coverage, and register yourself, or you can work with a broker or agent.

How to Prepare for SHOP Coverage

Here are some quick steps you can follow to prepare for enrollment in the SHOP Marketplace:

  • Get more information on SHOP coverage through your state agency website and consult with your employees to find their coverage requirements.
  • Browse Insurance Shopping to check if you are eligible based on your worker and employee count.
  • See 2022 insurance plans and cost estimates now.
