4 Key Dates for Marketplace Health Insurance

Are you prepared for the next Open Enrollment Period to buy Marketplace health insurance? During Open Enrollment Period, you can apply for a new health coverage plan, keep your current coverage, or choose a new one.

Four Crucial Dates You Must Remember

Four important dates for the Open Enrollment Period you should be aware of:

i) November 1, 2021: Open Enrollment begins at this date. You can apply for, maintain, or change your insurance plan.

ii) December 15, 2021: You must enroll by December 15 if you want new coverage beginning on January 1, 2022. If your plan changes or you wish to switch plans, register by the 15th to avoid a coverage lapse.

iii) December 31, 2021: Insurance coverage for 2021 plans expires. Coverage for 2022 health plans may begin as early as January 1.

iv) February 15, 2022: This is the last day to apply for 2022 coverage before Open Enrollment ends.

To purchase a Marketplace program outside of the Open Enrollment Period, you must qualify for a SEP (Special Enrollment Period) due to a qualifying life event, such as childbirth or adoption, marriage or loss of other insurance plans.
