Qualifying Life Events that Makes You Eligible for Health Coverage for the Rest of 2021

If you recently had a baby, got married, lost health coverage, or had another life event—you may be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period to register or renew Marketplace health coverage for the rest of 2021.

What constitutes a life event?

Qualifying life events are classified into four categories:

i) Loss of health coverage, such as the loss of job-based or student health coverage.

ii) Changes in the household, such as marriage or divorce, having a child, or adopting a baby.

iii) Changes in address, such as relocating to a different ZIP code or state.

iv) Other changes that affect your status or income, such as joining a federally recognized tribe.
